History of the Olympics

The Olympic Games were started by the Greeks in 776 BC to honour the almighty king of the gods, Zeus. 776 BC?! That’s a seriously long time ago! So why do we still celebrate and compete today? Leap, run and jump into history on this Ancient Greece KS2 & KS1 workshop and discover how this worldwide sporting event has endured and changed over time. Your class will find out what it takes to be an athlete, plus some of the weird and wonderful sports they can take part in. An ideal history workshop for schools all year round or to celebrate the Olympic Games!
