From gruesome medieval punishments to modern restorative justice, what has crime and punishment looked like throughout history? What has changed, and why? And was the treadmill REALLY used as a form of Victorian punishment?
Answers to all these questions and more will be uncovered in this highly active, performance-based Crime and Punishment workshop for KS2. Pupils become judge, jury, and even the accused, as they role play their way through time to investigate the differences between retribution, deterrence and rehabilitation. By exploring this fascinating chronology, children will engage directly with British Values while seamlessly linking key historical eras including the Medieval, Tudor and Victorian periods.
