Eggs and spoons at the ready – National School Sport Week 2015 is nearly upon us!
The arrival of Sports Day brings back a host of nostalgic memories, from running the 100m sprint to leaping over the hurdles. Sports Day was a chance to get out of the classroom, into the sunshine and be active with your friends. It was certainly one of my favourite events of the school year!
But this year National School Sport Week feels even more special, as we eagerly await the 2016 Olympic Games which are taking place in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. In anticipation for this fantastic sporting event we have created three exciting new projects all based around the breath-taking culture of Brazil. We celebrate the vibrancy and colour of Brazilian carnivals in our Dance Carnival Brazil workshop, which explores the energetic South American Latin Cha Cha Cha, salsa dance and the tango! You can make some noise for Brazil with our Brazilian Samba Drumming workshop, whilst our drama-based workshop Ola Brazil covers anything and everything about this wonderful nation.
We hope that these fantastic workshops will encourage children and young people across the country to get active and have fun. So whether you run, cycle, jump or skip, make sure to put on those trainers and enjoy the glorious sunshine whilst it’s still here! Enjoy National School Sport Week everyone!
