September 06, 2016
Ah, the start of the new term – excitement, anticipation and perhaps just a touch of panic are in the air! ‘New’ can be scary, for sure, but it also comes chocka-block full of opportunity.
We know that well here at One Day, where we are swimming in ‘news’ at the moment. Let us give you a quick update:
New Workshops
Roald Dahl Day on 13th September is fast approaching, and our brand new workshops are designed to bring the celebration right into the heart of your school! Whether you’re mad for Matilda, bonkers for The BFG or charmed by Charlie’s Chocolate Factory, we have Dance and Drama workshops to suit.
Oh, and we’re the recipients of a whole ROOM full of brand spanking new props to accompany our visits to your school! Expect colour, expect celebrations, expect fancy-dress aplenty.
We are also delighted to support the UK-India Year of Culture 2017. A year-long programme of events is scheduled to celebrate cultural ties, and if you’re keen to bring the celebration to your classes you can choose from Bhangra Drumming, Bollywood Dance and two different Drama projects: India Meets Britain and Diwali Festival of Light. We have Early Bird Packages available until 30 September 2016 – get in touch to find out more.
That’s before we’ve even mentioned our new London-specific drama workshop about democracy and government, the Mayan/Aztec history workshop with a focus on CHOCOLATE, or the planet-hopping space exploration for KS1! Basically, there’s lots going on! Check out our Workshops page for an up-to-date list.
New Team Members
As well as developing our new workshops, we’ve also been busy over the summer scouting out the best local talent to add to our list of professional facilitators, who travel all around the UK bringing these topics and themes alive in your schools! North, South, East and West, we’ve been blown away by the talent and are so proud of our brilliant, and ever-growing, team.
We also have some new faces in the office! Ellie is our Workshop Co-ordinator extraordinaire, Sarah looks after all our schools in London and the South as the region’s Opportunity Explorer, Georgina is our brilliant Finance Guru, and Ruth heads up marketing as One Day’s Storyteller. Find out a bit more about them on our About Us page!
New Year
We’re not quite sure how summer passed us by so quickly, but the new academic year holds lots in store. It may be a brand new workshop, or it could be a new opportunity to enjoy one of our popular annual workshops. History (e.g. Mayan Mayhem, Savage Stone Age, Great Fire of London), Anti-Bullying and E-Safety (e.g. Being Different Belonging Together, Into the Screen and Blast Off) and Literacy (e.g. Shakespeare, Nim’s Island, Alice in Wonderland) are hugely popular topics year-round, so take your pick!
Whatever your focus for the term just get in touch!
From all of us here at One Day, old and new (!), all the very best for a happy and productive new academic year. We very much look forward to working with you.
Love, the One Day Team x
