Avast m'hearties… be ye internet savvy? Set sail with Captain Digi on her ship, The Online Safety, and sail through the stormy seas of the ‘internet'.
Playing online games can be so much fun, with wonderful worlds to explore and cool characters to meet, but what would happen if you could enter the game for real?
This one hour workshop allows young children to enter the online gaming world. Using well-known fairy tale characters to highlight the importance of keeping safe online, children work in groups to navigate their way out of some tricky situations. Will the Three Little Pigs tell the Big Bad Wolf where they live? Will Red Riding Hood notice that Granny looks a bit different today? And will anyone be able to stop the Ugly Sisters from being horrible to Cinderella?
Through playful and fun storytelling, pupils will learn how to keep safe when playing on the internet and realise that the world inside the screen is perhaps not so different from the real world after all.
These workshops are short one hour bursts of creativity specifically designed to keep the younger children engaged in the learning. As the sessions are short and sweet we can work with up to four classes in a day.
"On Monday we were informed that we would have an Ofsted visit on Tuesday and Wednesday - when the e-safety workshops were happening. We let the workshops go ahead and Ofsted popped in. They thought they were REALLY good. Feedback from the teachers and children was excellent – they really took on board the messages and the teachers thought that the Facilitator was brilliant. On later days children have made references to the messages that were given so all in all the workshops were highly successful and we hope that we are able to book you again next year. Thank you for organising a super couple of days and well done that it was so organised, informative and fun.
