The Olympic Games were started by the Greeks in 776BC to honour the god Zeus - so why do we still celebrate and compete today?
Japanese Fan Dancing is an ancient tradition, dating back oto 600BC. Originally used to cool aristocracy, now they are used for storytelling and entertainment. Together let’s explore the graceful movements, sweeping gestures and traditional cultural tales through dance. Perfect to celebrate the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games!
Your class will…
Explore Japanese cultural traditions and history of fan dancing.
Perform and participate in dances using a range of movement patterns
Option 1 : We can work four classes across the school day, each class (maximum 35 pupils) working for one hour long session.
Option 2 : If you want to work towards a dance to perform at the end of the day, then we can work with two classes for around two hours each, and end the day with a short sharing session to their peers, or if you wanted parents.
