“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
Here at One Day, this is something we truly believe in and we are always looking for new and exciting ways to educate the young people of the world. This year we launched a brand new strand to One Day, in the form of our fantastic whole school Interactive Performances.
One Day Performances are now bringing exciting, educational performances to schools across the country and it was my job to oversee our debut tour!
Our first production – ‘Don’t Pack Up Your Troubles’, took children in schools on a journey delving into the world of Internet Safety. Visiting a total of 55 schools over six weeks, our performance team – ‘Tommy and Web-Stoppers’ – brought the subject of E-Safety to life with catchy songs, memorable dances and interactive games.
As part of my role I had the honour of getting back in touch to have a chat with our schools following each performance, to see how the performances went and to gather feedback. I was inundated with wonderful comments and after such an overwhelming response to our first tour we have been busy developing some brand new projects to tackle other hard-hitting topics.
Later this year we are launching our new Cyber-Bullying performance – ‘Ugly’. Using an alternative take on a well-loved fairy tale, this interactive performance looks at issues children are facing today including social media, trolling, peer pressure, verbal abuse and physical bullying. It also looks at how easily it can happen and how we can avoid getting involved.
Our performance team will be out on the road this autumn performing in schools up and down the UK in support of Anti-Bullying Month! Make sure you get in touch if you would like to find out more!
All the best,
Charlie and the One Day Team x
