Didgeridoos At The Ready… It’s Aboriginal Dance!

Didgeridoos at the ready, our Aboriginal Dance workshop is here!

What are the first things you think of when discussing Australia? Kangaroos? Koalas? ‘Shrimps on the Barbie’? Surfing? Or maybe Bruce and Sheila? Lots of stereotypes come to mind at first, but when we look at the country more closely there is a lot more to it!

One Day are taking you back to the roots of Australia and bringing the world of Aboriginal Dance to your school hall. In this workshop, we will teach your children all about the movement, music and rhythms of this cultural dance style, but also the history and meaning that this art form has to the Aboriginal Australians.

Their music and dance runs deep in the history and culture of Australia and still takes place today. Each Aboriginal dance is a performance – the chants, percussion instruments and the didgeridoo are their orchestra, the famous patterns and body paint are their costumes, and each other are their audience. Passion and enjoyment go into each dance ceremony and we want your pupils to experience this for themselves!

We look forward to bringing some of the Aboriginal spirit to your school (and don’t worry, we’ll all be the right way up!).

Love Naomi & the One Day Team! x
