Zero to Hero: Transition and Memories

England, Scotland, Wales

For most young people, the move from Primary to Secondary school is characterised by a potent mix of excitement and anxiety. Alongside the anticipation of making new friends and learning new things is the uncertainty about stricter teachers, more homework and scarier older students! This workshop has been developed to give your Year 6 pupils the opportunity to talk about their own memories, aspirations, hopes and fears and looking at ways to deal with them.

Your class will…

  • Explore feelings and anxieties around moving to Secondary school
  • Explore memories from Primary school, alongside hopes and aspirations for the future
  • Explore how to deal with change
  • Have a great day!

One Day Drama packages offer a full day workshop led by an experienced facilitator who collaborates with pupils in order to explore the topic through drama. The focus of a One Day Drama workshop is always the content and learning, but we do offer the opportunity for an informal peer to peer sharing session, where the children can share what they have done throughout the day. This isn’t necessarily a performance, but an opportunity for children to take ownership of the experience. They can share their learning with their peers, or if you wanted, parents.

This workshop is also available as a bespoke ‘Play in a Week’ project – get in touch to discuss!

"Children loved the Play in a Week on P7 Transition and Memories. Staff noticed how they all grew in confidence over the week, with some children with specific issues really enjoying taking part. Parents commented about the high quality of the work that they produced, a lot of them found it hard to believe they could bring so much together! We did not expect over 100 to attend! All in all a very successful week
