"Let's Talk about it!" A whole school performance exploring Mental health, Mindfulness and Emotional Wellbeing.
*TOURING SUMMER TERM*
For most young people, the move from primary to secondary school is characterised by a tummy-churning mix of excitement and anxiety. Alongside the anticipation of making new friends and learning new things, comes uncertainty about what their new school will be like, worries about stricter teachers, more homework, and of course not being able to make friends.
We can offer two options on how to structure this transition project within your school:
Year 6 Transition day/week
Together with our facilitator, Year 6 pupils will spend time talking about how to deal with their new school life ahead of them.
One Day will bring to your school hall a day of creative fun aiming to to break down any worries the pupils may have towards moving up to ‘Big School’. We aim to give each child an insight into one of the most exciting changes in their school lives.
Year 7 Transition day/week
Year 7 students, together with our professional facilitator, will work to create an informative piece of drama that will explore fears, expectations and aspirations. They can then share their learnings with their soon-to-be peers, the Year 6 pupils, as they look ahead to their own secondary transfer.
Once the Year 7 students have performed their 15/20-minute play, the key messages are then explored using discussion with the Year 6 pupils. Our unique One Day workshop encourages tall pupils to familiarise themselves with their peers, and will allow the space so that they can break down any fears or apprehensions they may have about moving to secondary school.
"Children loved the Play in a Week on P7 Transition and Memories. Staff noticed how they all grew in confidence over the week, with some children with specific issues really enjoying taking part. Parents commented about the high quality of the work that they produced, a lot of them found it hard to believe they could bring so much together! We did not expect over 100 to attend! All in all a very successful week
