A City coming out of the shadows. Celebrating Hull’s announcement as 2017’s UK City of Culture, this exciting new project is all about feeling proud of where we come from!
Howay man! Have you heard the "TAAK of the TOON"? We'd better get booked in - North-East and PROUD!
One of our very own resident Geordie artists hails from the North-East, so Newcastle is proudly in our DNA. We cherish Newcastle and the North East’s history and want to add value to classroom teaching by giving children all over the North-East a unique, creative and fun opportunity that they will remember for years to come!
“Taak of the Toon” begins back in Roman times. Children will enjoy learning all about their hometown of Newcastle and will recreate its vibrant history through drama! Our unique workshop will take your class through a historic timeline of goodies right up until the present day.
Do you know why in 1649, the people of Newcastle employed a famous witch-hunter?! Or that the top half of Scottish hero William Wallace was displayed at the Castle Keep in Newcastle? Did you know that Greggs Bakery opened in Gosforth and that stottie cakes were expected to bounce if dropped on the floor?! These are just a few of the fascinating facts youngsters ‘gan learn about in the children’s history of Newcassel!
"The drama event went well despite some of the Year 5's from the visiting school being a little reticent at first! All of them enjoyed performing and it was nice to see the children who don't normally participate being given the confidence to join in and perform. The drama leader worked very hard , she was great with the children and had high expectations of behaviour and performance skills. Overall, the children enjoyed the day and the teacher from the middle school who hadn't heard of the company before was very impressed."
